Gaming: Career Options Open with 24 Billions Rupees Projections by 2015

The World Wide Web is becoming a hub for the new gaming websites, which are being launched almost each day. The gaming industry has witnessed many transformations since the preliminary days, when the games didn’t require any understanding. Today the extensive use of software has enriched the quality of the games. Games developed today are much more interactive and exciting, with the different social networking platforms providing the window to extend the wings of the gamers. Games and applications can be developed on Facebook. Farmville, Mafia Wars and any more have risen to cater to this new market for games. Game development has risen to a new level.India has also seen significant advances in this sector and has emerged as one of the destination of the game development. This fact was predicted by AC Nielsen, a research firm even way back in the year 2005. With a significant dip in the prices of the personal computers game developers have smartly targeted the PC games.

Game developing has emerged as the new career option among students who wish to continue their attraction to the games. Sunil Kinshuk started Hashtag in 2011 after realizing that his favorite past time could very well nurtured into a successful career option. Hashtag is currently based in Delhi NCR and focus particularly on Mobile and Social platform games. Game development has grown significant interests among students also. These students not only love to play the games but also feel game development is vital.

Barnik Saha who is pursuing his engineering from H.I.T Calcutta adds, “Game development gives us an opportunity to create a virtual world, by which we can do things that are not permissible in the real world.”

There has been steady increase in the gaming development with the current market, the total value of the market is projected at. The introduction of smart phone has given new toys in the hands of the gamers. The mobile platform games are particularly liked by many students in India, courtesy to its portability. A game user can start the game whenever they want irrespective of the situation. Prakhar Sinha who is also a college student from Calcutta has deep liking for “Temple run” and wishes to modify the gaming structure to increase the interaction among its lovers.

Companies such as Druva Studios and have emerged as the most popular and profitable game development companies in India. While the former had two successful attempts to attract money from the international market. These games were Geoff Grammond’s Grand Prix 4 (for the PC users) and TOCA Pro Race Driver. These companies are now increasingly targeting the mobile platforms such as Android and iOS. Druva Studios is more popular among the user and especially students.

Safran Ali from H.I.T Calcutta believes “Game development companies should targeted more on the android version. Games like Angry birds and Racing Moto are perfect examples; these games do not require any start up time and can be played anywhere”. Safran is an addict to the PC games such as FIFA and also feels that mobile games are short and do not take long hours to finish.

The future of mobile game developing companies in India has a bright future. The rise in the mobile devices especially the smart phones, have created huge opportunities for the game developers to tap in.
