Transferring files on your mobile devices just got easier with SFT

With several e-commerce biggies like Flipkart taking the app route, mobile platforms is where the real action is. The latest entry into this field is Swift File Transfer (SFT), an app that enables users to quickly transfer data to their mobile devices.

With this app you can share files of any format across Android devices without an internet service, bluetooth connectivity, or a mobile network. “Responding to the need for faster connectivity, especially in terms of data transfer, and to make that task simpler, we launched SFT in December 2014," says Pankaj Singh, marketing executive at SFT.

Founder background

An engineer by profession, co-Founder Kunal Mahajan, has always been passionate about programming. He has developed several APIs and SDKs and has been a part of technical strategy teams in several organisations. In 2013, he incorporated Kumilabs with an investment of around $3300. Says he:

At Kumilabs, we released several games and applications. These got more than 40 million downloads and generated more than 10 million ad requests in a month.

Talking about his partnership with Pankaj, Kunal says:“I met Pankaj in a startup event in Bengaluru around mid-2013. We connected and started to share our expertise, soon we planned to start SFT."

The idea

The idea of creating a file transfer app that was fast and wireless came to Kunal in August 2014. He bounced off the idea to Pankaj, who immediately agreed. After conducting surveys and working on R&D, the duo launched the app. "It feels great when users simply love the idea of not using data, Wi-Fi, or anything to transfer files," adds Kunal.

SFT was launched on Google Play Store in December 2014.Talking about their product Kunal says: "We believe that along with technology the behaviour of the end user is changing as well, and that's why we believe in constantly improvising our product." Pankaj echoes these sentiments: "We are really hard on ourselves, if there is something we don't like, how can we expect our users to like it."

Market and USP

SFT claim to be one of the best apps in the market in terms of speed. Having written the SDK themselves, and after running several tests, the team is confident of its product. "We are integrating cloud sharing features in the application, so that anyone can share files easily through the cloud," says Kunal. They are also working on a desktop version, which will enable users to employ their phones as a USB drive to access data.

Based on download data and research analytics, the team found that SFT’s target audience is the 18-30 age groups. This segment spends time on the app transferring data like images and videos. The app has a 4.5 star rating on Google Play, with each session averaging approximately five minutes.

Future plans

The team is planning to launch the app for iPhone and Windows Mobile as well. “After being appreciated by our users and winning awards and several recognitions, we have already started developing the PC version of the app," adds Pankaj.

SFT has received awards like the Mobile Premier Award and Hot Awards, and has been called by App Circus as the most rated mobile apps in public voting.
