Here are the most in-demand IT skill sets in India

India's Information Technology sector is regarded as the biggest private sector employer, with over 10 million employees across India. Talent assessment platform Youth4work has announced its findings about the top five desired skill sets in the Indian IT sector. ASP.net is the most in-demand skill set in the IT sector followed by SQL Server, PHP, Advance Java and JavaScript.

The findings revealed that service sector dominates all sectors by contributing 54.4 percent to the GDP. The demand for web development jobs is on rise driven by the need of desktop-like functionalities to support Web 2.0 applications.

With the advent of initiatives like ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India’, the present government has made it quite clear that IT sector will play an important role in the development of India. The ‘Make in India’ campaign is giving a push to the already aspiring entrepreneurs and technology driven startups.

The findings also revealed that innovative apps, web development and SEO optimisation are the current market, trends which are generating a large number of job opportunities for the youth.

On the demand-supply gap between the talent possessed and required, it highlighted that the demand for PHP talent (1.29 percent of the total Jobs on platform) is the highest in number whereas the demand for Advance Java jobs (0.4 percent) is the lowest among them. The demand for PHP talent is driven by the free licensing PHP developers get.
