How to convert your website visitors into customers

How to convert your website visitors into customers

Monday February 06, 2017 , 4 min Read

Increasing the number of visitors to your site is a task in itself that consumes a lot of time. But how useful is it if they read your offerings but do not use their credit cards on buying your product? Having a million visitors is cool, but money is made when you get paying customers; otherwise you simply drain away all the effort spent to bring people onto your website. Remember that you have even paid to bring customers to your site, you need to understand what your customer wants and how you can convert them into a paying customer. Let us see some of the ways in which we can make it possible:

Introduce live chat

Customers would love to have their questions answered instantly, and there is nothing better than the live chat feature to facilitate this. A customer who is not so sure about the product will get a much better idea of your startup when they get to interact with a person from the company. They are much more likely to indulge in a live chat than picking up their phone to make a call. This way you can bring a lot of undecided visitors under the umbrella of paying customers. Some of the live chat providers that you can use are Zopim, Revechat, live2support.com, and Purechat, among others.

Testimonials

You can see almost all startups using testimonials these days with the headshot of the customer along with their designations. A testimonial hardly has 200 odd words. Such a low word count is certainly not effective. Request your customers to provide the testimonial in the form of a story. That will hook a prospective customer as it will look more authentic. Be generous with where you use your testimonials – have it on your sales page, recommendation pages, checkout page, product listings, everywhere. Using them can create a huge impact when they see credible faces endorsing your product.

Be crystal clear with your offering

What are the actions you want taken by the people who come to your site? Should they spend a lot of time reading your articles, subscribe to your newsletter, sign up for a free trial, or purchase your product? Have a call to action button for each of these. You need to be clear about what you offer to your customers. Is it something that will help them or are they not suited for the product because they happen to be in a different industry which you do not serve. The more you are specific about your product, the more credible you will look.

Collect email addresses

Email marketing is considered one of the most important ways to convert your visitors to paid customers. Collect the email addresses of visitors using offers like free e-books, free consultation, or anything that would entice the visitor to share their email ID. Now engage with these people through a multi-pronged email marketing campaign where you provide them with more informational and promotional content. Make sure that this customer is not forgotten as a mere number. Provide them with reasons to persuade them to buy your product.

Use a comparison page

If you are in a market with a lot of demand, the chances of finding a lot of competitors in the same market is a given. It means that your customers are comparing your products with your competitor’s before they make the purchase. Why don’t your help out your potential customers with a landing page that has these comparisons? Give them reasons as to why they should choose you over your competitors. You can get this done in the form of a comparison chart filled with images, numbers, and symbols which will add the much-needed colour to it.

Make sure that the first time your customer visits your website is memorable; work hard for a long and fruitful relationship. Understand your customers, commit to improving the performance on the site and use all the points listed above so that there is an impact on the money you spent on ads to bring customers to your website.
