NephroPlus announces acquisition of kidney care company DaVita Care India

Monday November 05, 2018 , 2 min Read

Dialysis care network NephroPlus will acquire kidney care company DaVita Care India to strengthen capacity and expand its reach.

On November 5, dialysis care network NephroPlus announced that it is acquiring kidney-care company DaVita Care India, a part of DaVita Inc, a Fortune 500 company.

The agreement stated that NephroPlus will acquire 22 centres of DaVita Care, which serve over 1,700 dialysis patients across the country. This acquisition will strengthen Nephroplus' capacity to 176 centres in 97 cities across 18 Indian states.

DaVita Care (India) is a network of dialysis and kidney care centres that provide care for acute and end-stage renal disease patients in India. It offers dialysis services, including in-centre and home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and AV Fistula and AV graft procedures, and allied services that include psychological counselling and diet and nutrition advice.

“We are proud of our accomplishments in India and this deal is a reflection of the hard work and value creation delivered by our team,” said Robert Lang, CEO of DaVita International. "We remain excited about our future in Asia Pacific and look forward to continuing our commitment to the region," he added.

Founded by Vikram Vuppala, Kamal D Shah and Sandeep Gudibanda in 2009, NephroPlus offers high-quality dialysis services at affordable prices. The company strongly believes that those on dialysis can function like any other healthy person. Currently, it serves over 12,000 patients on dialysis through a network of more than 150 clinics.

"With this acquisition, we have reaffirmed our strong commitment to redefine the dialysis delivery eco-system in India and abroad. We reinforce our commitment to further improving the standards of clinical care across the larger combined network,” said Vikram at the release.

With this development, NephroPlus plans to broaden their reach and provide high-quality dialysis at affordable prices. "We will be able to touch many more lives through this acquisition and showcase our core value of ‘guest care comes first’ to more people on dialysis,” said Kamal, who himself has been on dialysis for over 21 years.
