Facebook is celebrating two years of encouraging women entrepreneurs with the SheLeadsTech community

Two years ago, Facebook India launched a unique programme created to encourage women entrepreneurs in the country. Based on the belief that when women succeed, we all win, the SheLeadsTech community has today grown into a thriving curated group of women who have come together to exchange ideas, offer each other support, receive mentorship and address the unique problems that women entrepreneurs face such as gender bias, low investor confidence and cultural conditioning about the perceived role of women in society. Being part of this community gave these women access to tools, mentorship, and resources to help overcome some of the barriers they face, and build a successful business in technology.
They were also given access to multiple tools and resources including FbStart, a technical support programme from Facebook, through an exclusive community of global startups, free credits to tools, training on Facebook Developer Tools, and services from dozens of premier partners including MailChimp, App Annie, and Amazon.
This diverse group of 596 entrepreneurs represent 87 cities from across 67 verticals, who have come together to participate in a series of offline and online events. These included co-branded meetups with YourStory, espresso meetups in Tier 2 cities, workshops, speed dating sessions, and AMA sessions.
Forging the way ahead
As the SheLeadsTech community celebrates two years of encouraging entrepreneurship in India, it’s time to look back on how far the community has come and chart the way ahead.
The summit will feature panel discussions, fireside chats, and a masterclass with successful women entrepreneurs, government officials, investors, VCs, and senior members of the Facebook team.
Among the highlights of the event will be the Startup Showcase where community members will get a chance to showcase their ventures and a special two-hour masterclass on ‘How to Leverage the Facebook Ecosystem’, where attendees can learn how Facebook can help them build, grow and monetise their business. Attendees will also get the chance to network with members of the SheLeadsTech community, mentors, and key members of the Facebook team.
The day-long Facebook SheLeadsTech summit will be held on April 25, 2019 at The Oberoi, New Delhi, from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm.
