Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the 2020 edition of the Hayabusa in the country at an unchanged price of Rs 13,74,941 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle is a BS-IV compliant model and will only be available in limited numbers.

Further, the new Hayabusa gains new stickers, colour options (Metallic Thunder Grey and Candy Daring Red), and a new front brake calliper (Brembo instead of Tokico). The motorcycle has also lost 2 kg.

Suzuki Hayabusa

The iconic Suzuki Hayabusa is no longer on sale in Europe, South America, and several Asian nations due to the newer emission regulations. However, it remains on sale in the US, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and India. Further, the motorcycle is not expected to be made BS-VI complaint and will be shelved even in India.

Named after the Peregrine falcon, the fastest member of the bird kingdom, which can hit a top speed of 389 kmph, the Hayabusa itself is not slow. Despite weighing 266 kg, the motorcycle can touch 299 kmph (limited). Powering the motorcycle is a 1,340cc liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder, DOHC mill. Coupled to a six-speed gearbox, the engine produces 199 PS of power and 155 Nm of torque. Also, a 21-litre fuel tank makes the motorcycle perfect for touring.

The Hayabusa has aged like a fine wine and is a delight to ride. However, kinks have begun to appear in its armour. Especially the five-pod instrumentation.

Suzuki Hayabusa

Suzuki’s Hayabusa is one of the last surviving members of a dying breed. Its only direct competitor, Kawasaki ZX-14R, will also be axed next year. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer is expected to introduce an all-new Hayabusa soon with a revised powertrain. Further, the company may offer both a manual and semi-automatic gearbox. Besides that, the new motorcycle will also get all the modern-day electronic riding aids.
