Rapid fire with YS Life: Rajat Jadhav, Co-founder of Ranveer Singh-backed Bold Care

Mumbai-based Bold Care has redefined the secret ingredient to successful ad campaigns—unique storylines, edgy dialogues, and star power.

The sexual health and wellness brand became the talk of the town with its unique ad campaigns starring Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and adult film performer Jonny Sins. Through its ads, it challenged the Indian value systems—a stunt that generated mixed reactions from internet users.

Founded by Rajat Jadhav, Rahul Krishnan, and Mohit Yadav in 2020, Bold Care has successfully gained the trust of more than 25 lakh Indian men, the startup claims.

Additionally, in December last year, the startup managed to rope in Singh as its brand-ambassador and co-founder, adding the star power. But how exactly does the marketing mastermind at Bold Care think?

YS Life got in touch with co-founder Jadhav, who is leading the marketing initiatives at Bold Care, to get a peek inside his world.

Edited excerpts from the conversation:

YS Life [YSL]: What are the three words that best describe you?

Rajat Jadhav [RJ]: Dedicated, intuitive, and minimalistic.

YSL: Three words that best describe your brand, Bold Care?

RJ: Science-backed, solution-first, and destigmatising.

YSL: A misconception people usually have about you?

RJ: People often assume that I’m very serious and no-nonsense with everyone, but I do like to unwind with my close friends and family.

YSL: If you could go back in time, would you change anything about your entrepreneurial journey?

RJ: My journey has been pretty unique and it’s the one that’s got me here, so I wouldn’t change a thing.

YSL: Why do you think Ranveer Singh is the perfect fit for Bold Care?

RJ: The bigger question is why not? He’s magnanimous, an icon for the youth, very creative, and dedicated. He has been an advocate for men’s sexual health for many years and has the ability to destigmatise sexual health and connect with the audience. His input in marketing, brand, and the larger vision are crucial for our growth.

YSL: A living person who inspires you?

RJ: Bryan Johnson (American entrepreneur and VC).

YSL: If not an entrepreneur, what would you be?

RJ: Nothing!

YSL: What is your guilty pleasure?

RJ: Booking spontaneous trips so that I can disconnect and travel.

YSL: An instance when you lie?

RJ: Not a lot, but if I have to get myself out of a social commitment or an event that I’m not feeling up to!

YSL: What is the one thing that you love about your job?

RJ: Working with talented, experienced people who I can collaborate and work with for Bold Care’s growth.

YSL: What is the one thing that you hate about your job?

RJ: I don’t hate anything as such but it is hard to be working round-the-clock. As a co-founder, I find it hard to disconnect completely or take a break.

YSL: Two startup founders that you don’t mind getting stuck on an isolated island with?

RJ: Deepinder Goyal (Zomato) and Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha).

YSL: Fame or money?

RJ: Neither. I feel they are both fleeting and don’t compare to the impact or impression one can leave behind. I’d rather have a good reputation.

YSL: A mantra that you live by?

RJ: Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Make it happen for yourself.

YSL: What is the last thing you do before retiring for the night?

RJ: Catch up on my reading. I’m a history enthusiast and spend some time on my Kindle before turning in for the night.
